Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Vessel iOS app and related services. Please read them carefully. By downloading, installing, or using Vessel, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Vessel you confirm that you accept these Terms of Use and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you must not use the app. You also agree to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the Apple EULA), which governs all apps downloaded from the App Store.
2. Use Licence
Subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download, install, and use Vessel on iOS devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use. You may not:
- Modify, copy, or distribute the app or its content;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- Use the app or any of its content for commercial purposes;
- Remove copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app's backend, API, or accounts other than your own;
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with the app or its backend;
- Use the app to build a competing product or service;
- Use the app in any manner that violates applicable law.
3. Subscriptions
Vessel offers auto-renewable subscriptions ("Vessel Pro") through the Apple App Store, governed by the Apple EULA. Subscription tiers and pricing are displayed in the app before purchase and may vary by region.
- Free trial. If a free trial is offered as part of a subscription, the trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. Your Apple ID will be charged upon confirmation of purchase and at each renewal.
- Managing your subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions) or via the "Manage subscription" link inside the app's Settings screen.
- Lifetime option. Where a one-time lifetime purchase is offered, it grants ongoing access to Vessel Pro for as long as the app is available on the App Store and the relevant product is supported.
- Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's policies. We do not process refunds directly.
- Price changes. We may adjust subscription prices from time to time. Any change will be communicated in advance and will only apply after your current billing period ends. If you do not agree to a new price, you can cancel before the change takes effect.
4. Health and wellness disclaimer
Vessel is a general wellness and meditation product. It is not a medical device, not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric care, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or mental health condition.
- Not medical advice. The content generated by Vessel — including guided sessions, bespoke snippets, and any written text in the app — is for general wellness purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new wellness practice, especially if you have a diagnosed mental health condition, a history of trauma, a cardiovascular or respiratory condition, or are pregnant.
- Not a crisis service. Vessel is not designed to respond to mental health emergencies. If you are in crisis, experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harming, or in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis hotline immediately. In the United States, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by calling or texting 988, or via chat at 988lifeline.org. Outside the United States, please search for a local crisis line.
- Use at your own discretion. If you experience dizziness, discomfort, distress, or any adverse effects while using Vessel, stop immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Do not use the app while driving, operating machinery, or in any situation where reduced attention could cause harm.
- Professional support comes first. If you are currently in therapy or receiving mental health care, Vessel is intended to complement — not replace — that care. Talk to your provider before making changes to your treatment.
5. AI-generated content
Some Vessel sessions include audio and text generated by artificial intelligence systems (Anthropic's Claude for session planning and bespoke snippet text, and ElevenLabs for voice synthesis). While we take care to guide these systems toward helpful and appropriate output, AI-generated content:
- May occasionally be imperfect, unexpected, or off-topic.
- Is not guaranteed to be accurate or suitable for every user in every moment.
- Should not be treated as a source of factual, medical, or therapeutic authority.
If something in a session feels wrong or unhelpful, stop the session, and please let us know so we can improve.
6. Privacy
Your use of Vessel is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
7. Intellectual property
The Vessel app, including its design, code, name, logo, audio content, library of pre-recorded snippets, prompt design, and any original written material, is owned by Vessel and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These terms do not grant you any ownership rights; they grant you a limited licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Third-party trademarks mentioned in the app (for example, Apple, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, RevenueCat, PostHog, Cloudflare) remain the property of their respective owners and are used only for identification purposes.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
Vessel is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of the course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that any defects will be corrected.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will Vessel, its developer, contractors, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the app. In no event will our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these terms or the app exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In those jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
10. Termination
You may stop using Vessel at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to Vessel if you violate these terms, misuse the service, or engage in conduct that we reasonably believe harms the app, us, or other users. Termination does not affect any rights and obligations that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the current version took effect. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email where we have one. Continued use of Vessel after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Vessel's developer is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising out of or related to these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable consumer protection law provides otherwise.
